How to Qualify and Apply
At the Dealership:
- Customers will need to complete a Customer Eligibility Form (CEF)
- Provide a copy of their driver’s license.
- Ensure that the name on the driver’s license, CEF, sale/lease agreement, and registration application matches.
Dealer’s Role:
- Dealers provide the rebate as a discount at the point of sale.
- Note the discount as a line item on the sale or lease agreement.
- Submit a claim for reimbursement within two weeks of the sale/lease.
Stacking Rebates
The state rebate can be combined with federal tax credits, state sales tax exemptions, and other automaker rebates if available. This can significantly reduce the cost of your new EV.
Important Considerations
Retroactive Rebates:
- The rebate is not available for EVs purchased before the program’s start date.
- Credit Scores: No specific credit score is required to qualify for the rebate. However, lease and purchase terms will depend on your credit score.
Governor’s Statement
Governor Jay Inslee highlighted the significance of the 2024 Instant EV Rebate Program by stating, “With these new rebates, we’re significantly lowering the entry point, opening the door to EVs for people of modest incomes as we continue paving the way to a clean transportation future for all. This program aims to make electric vehicles more affordable for lower-income residents of Washington State.”
